On the evening of Thursday, August 14, 2025, community members gathered for Sketches of Minnesota in New Ulm—a unique and engaging event sponsored by the Minnesota Humanities Center and Danger Boat Productions. Through a mix of thoughtful dialogue and improv theater, participants explored what makes New Ulm special, what people misunderstand about it, the divisions that challenge us, and the future we imagine for our city.
The evening was filled with laughter, reflection, and heartfelt stories that brought neighbors together in a spirit of curiosity and connection. ARS and Open Arts Minnesota proudly took part, with self-advocates sharing personal insights and powerful perspectives. We’re grateful to all who made this night meaningful—and to those working to ensure every voice in our community is heard.
