New Ulm’s beloved Bavarian Blast returned to the Brown County Fairgrounds July 17–20, marking its 19th year as a joyful celebration of German heritage, and it did not disappoint! Despite a rainy start Saturday, spirits stayed high. The cool skies gave way to hearty polka rhythms and stein-holding contests. Extra highlights included the return of the 5K Fun Run on Saturday morning, boosting community health alongside festival fun. Visitors enjoyed authentic German fare, local beers from Schell’s, arts and crafts vendors, and performances by crowd favorites like the Concord Singers. If you missed it this year, plan ahead, the roots of polka celebration run deep in New Ulm, and next summer’s Bavarian Blast is already shaping up to be another unforgettable weekend.
